Energy Efficiency Specialist/Installer

Employment Type: Full time

This is a Monday-Friday, first shift, full-time 30-60 hours per week role (40 hours per week is expected, with periodic opportunities for overtime at 1.5 x pay rate). Per union contract, starting pay minimum is $19.65 per hour, plus fully employer paid benefits after 600 hours on the job (see below). Pay commensurate with experience. Opportunities for advancement and pay increases based on performance.

Our teams are dispatched to job sites throughout Southeast Wisconsin, and typically the day starts and ends at the Green Homeowners United office. Reliable transportation to and from the office site is required, there is a bus stop very close by.

Minimum requirements include:

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent education desired

  • Desired training/experience using power tools, insulation, gap sealing, using caulk, window installation or similar

  • Own vehicle is desired with mileage reimbursement available

  • Driver’s License: Class D - Regular (Auto, Light Truck, Moped) required

Background check required.

Expectations/Duties

Training is provided. While experience in these areas is ideal, a great candidate is someone eager to learn and develop their skills.

  • Add insulation (rigid, blown, batts, spray) to attics, basements, etc. to reduce energy loss

  • Learn air/gap sealing techniques

  • Show attention to detail and pride in work

  • Work with a team to problem solve on-the-ground issues in old homes to best reduce energy use and health hazards

  • Learn and apply safety techniques and equipment

  • Work on a team the majority of the time but be able to work independently as assigned

  • Understand building science principles behind different construction approaches and energy efficiency improvements to further improve homes (training provided)

  • Use power tools and equipment

  • Speak professionally to customers and team members

Other Experience and Qualifications

  • Eagerness to learn and develop skills with a growing company

  • Experience/skill with tools including drills, saws, and other common small residential construction equipment

  • Attention to detail, knowledge of basic math and measuring skills

  • Must be able to carry upwards of 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb ladders

  • Ability to go into attics and crawl spaces to install insulation and gap seal

  • Must be willing to work in lead safe & effective manners including full protective equipment when necessary and adhere to clean standards at the worksite (training provided)

  • Creative strategic thinking skills and willingness to innovate

  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, strong personal time management skills, organization skills, and the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining effective relationships

  • Ability to undertake occasional travel within Wisconsin and northern IL

  • Must have a valid Driver's License and ability to safely drive a box truck (CDL not required)

  • Ability to be at work between 8am and 6pm (varies by day).

  • Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Experience in either residential window installation and/or installing insulation (attics, basements)

  • Experience with bending aluminum coil for trim, installing windows and/or installing/finishing drywall is ideal
